WGWR and The Hope Children
for Development Organization (HCDO) conduct a women forum on Against Violence
of Weapons on Women in 7 March 2005 at Kor commune, Tboung Khmom district,
Kg Cham province. 60 women from four villages (30 Muslims & 30 Khmer
original) - Senchey, Lvear Touch, Veal Khmom, and Domnak Popel- sharing
information and raise their concerns and recommendations for security
prevention in the communities. The participants mentioned recently cattle-rustles
in the community there are 5 raiders hold weapons to uses to shot 4 times
to threaten the owners. The raiders took the animals out, fortunately,
the owners and other villagers tattooed and reported to the police post
surrounding them and then took back the animals but the thieves are not
arrested. During the Women Day the villagers are fears of their property
especially concern about their cattle because raiders are still talking
around the house of animal owners where they are failed.
Suggestion:
- Want NGO to help organize
the village guards to prevent their villages
- Want authority eliminate the petty crimes.
- Want to help educate the drunk who commits domestic violence in families.
- Want NGO help make complaints for local people to local authority.
- Advocate the rubbery plantation company to stop using weapons to threaten
the local peoples.
